Me and My important observations about this "Company"
My Tech/Functional Expertise: Other
My Total Experience (In Years): 2 to 5
Fresher Salary (CTC in Lakhs per annum): 2.50
Best & Worst thing about this company: Not good if you want to develop your technical skills. Neither good in pay part. I don’t thing any positive part of this company.
My Recommendation: No "I hate my Company"
I have worked/been working with this company: Yes
Comments:
Brand Value: Yuppie I guess Cognizant as potential advantage in this. It maintains a good brand in India. But its low salary puts it on the other side of this brandL

Career growth and onsite opportunities? Career growth is not very fast. Normally anybody has to wait for 3 years for first promotion as Associate from Programmer Analyst. Onsite opportunities depend on the individual project. But overall I guess in Cognizant onsite opportunities are more than any of the other companies like TCS/Wipro/Infy etc

How is work environment and how efficient is the communication b/w teams or department? Work Environment is not so good. My personal experience is pathetic in this company. In Chennai maximum of the members would be Tamil (this is obvious), but onsite meeting in my team is also in Tamil. So for me the work environment is pathetic.
Communication b/w departments are fine and I appreciate this.

Work pressure/Work – life balance. Depends on project, but overall its fine.

Satisfaction with salary and quality of work. Very very very poor. A simple example is the pay package for 2006 pass outs and 2007 passouts.I am 2006 batch. Our Package was 2.11(includes 20K incentive). Our Juniors were offered 2.50(includes 20K incentive). And our revise package w.e.f May 2007 is 2.60(20K incentive). So we have only 10K annually salary diff from our juniors .At the same time the salary of Infy and TCS for 2006 batch is 2.75L Plus. Very bad quality of work overall.

What type of work they do: Product development, Services etc. Or if mix of these then what at percent? Mostly services.

Job security. 110% unless you are very poor performing (I don’t think anybody will be)

Do you recommend your company to others? Yes or No and Why? A big No for friends. There are so many reasons which are already discussed.

one more true story about the unethical practice of Cognizant towards freshers.
cognizant work culture has got worst because of the Huge inflow of management from wipro.

Here is the story of miss Priyanka Singh who was asked for leave from the Cognizant for no reason. She was made to work in united health care ITIS project on the ID's of another guy for one year.Later she was asked to take the dove tail test along with other freshers who had joined along with her.

Its quite obvious that there is some conspiracy going on in the company because who will put a fresherers test to a resource who already working in a project for one year?

but miraculously, all her other batch mates were retained even though they did not clear the dove tail test.

when she approached the HR executive praveen singh ,asking for justice regarding the matter. He plainly refused to look in to this matter because the senior HR managemen has alredy instructed him .

And the saddest part was, the project has only one shift [Night shift 9.00 PM - 7.00PM]. Even after working for Such grave yard shift, she has to lose her job for no mistake of hers.

The managers Sudhakar chengulvarayan this guy joined as labour in company and became a Asst Manager. is like a jackal who know all these things and never bothered to help her while she was asked to leave.

There is another manager for the same project sachin chavan , who sits in pune and he used to manage the project has no technical knowledge and always interested in getting the team compiling the useless documents.

Hey Man,

Take my word. It is really good company to join either as fresher or experienced. I worked for the comapny for 3 years and came out.
But Be double careful if you are joining ITIS. It got the most worst and arrogant HR and resource management. and the salaries and increments are vary less in ITIS.

If you are not joing ITIS division. please join with out doubt.

Hi I have been working in this compnay for 3 years

1. The ITIS division of the company is the worstest of the worst divisions in the company. The salaries are very low (1.34L) When i joined as fresher and they told us that they increace the salary to 1.6 which is false and the HR manager escaped when questioned Mentioning "There is a software module Problem" Hell with the HR policies.

2. 75% of the managers in the company can be safely called as scrap.

3. No strong organizational level Resource management. you should be ready to jump from the building if clients wish is like that
:eek

4. If you are from the state that resides besides Kerala, you are the king in the company. and all verification for experienced hires are not mandatory if you are from the TDU state Hence you are safe and no one will question you whether you work or not and no manager will dare to ask you if you are from TDU state and obviously promotions in every cycle as you fall in the (Associates from the preferred state) Group.

5. The dress code is the one that i hate in this company - Friday casuals. This is stupid.

6. for a fresher, the advice is if you have no offers in hand, join CTS and keep searching out side assuming that you are unemployed and find a good opportunity. or stay for one or two and find good offers and quit. No Use of long service in the company.
6. True      By SCM
Yes man what you are saing always correct, Getting promotion very late and no pay revise :sigh
5.       By ram
one person from CTS his name is BALAJI SRINIVASAN( 116725 cog id) put his papaer bcos he didnt get promotions. But his higher officals convinced him by giving more incentive and promise to give promotion(SPM) in next cycle. Is this best way to get promotions. This way of getting promotions is very common in CTS Testing.

surely he will get promotion in next cycle. It was already happen to another person in CTS testing group name called GOPI

is this fair? Then how come other got promotions

Please share your commands :cry :?
4. A simple question here      By Ram
I have a very general question here...
Do BE and ME/M.tech freshers have any difference inside the company? regarding work / pay / promotion / onsite opportunity etc.....
3. Sal is low      By XYZ
:cry yes i do agree with this. Cognizant has to think much on Pay Part to hold their talents.Being a 2006 passout i know that number of guys are not at all satisfied with salary and they are just waiting for 1 year job exp,so that they can switch to another job.Well good review:-)
2. Right      By ABBB
